About the independent members of the Association of Art Historians

Independent art historians work in a wide variety of areas - for example, as freelance lecturers, curators, researchers, writers, editors, translators, picture researchers, conservators. Highly qualified and experienced in their fields, our members are available for short-term contracts and 'one-off' engagements. Clients looking for art historians to carry out research for TV, film or radio projects, to write content for exhibition catalogues, give a talk or a series of lectures, curate an exhibition, translate art historical text from one language to another, edit art history text, find art images for reproduction, or any other art-historical task, should begin by searching our online database of freelance independent art historians.

The Association of Art Historians (AAH) was formed in 1974 to support and promote the study of art history. We are the national organisation for professional art and design historians, researchers or students who are involved in education, galleries, museums and art-related publishing, or any other activity linked with art and design history.
